The battle system introduced here in this episode is literally a far cry from how it evolved over time in Mystic Legends. I mean yeah, I had to start somewhere, but compared to later episodes for the Battle System, this looks like a weak start by comparison now.
I went with turn based RPG battling in this comic simply because it's a still based "read at your own pace" sprite comic. If it were animated from the word go, I probably would have went with action RPG battling instead. In fact, action RPG battling is the direction I aim to take the re-boot. I much prefer action RPG battling over turn based battling. That said, I have nothing against turn based battle systems myself. I mean heck, I still play Fire Emblem and other types of turn based battle system games, so that should tell you something right there. Hell, some of my top favorite games of all time use turn based battle systems, like "Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars".
